This image was created through double exposures and it turned out completely different than I planned. But the more I look at it, the more I like it. Lucia standing above the tree line with full force captain stance represents overcoming Covid yet again! And to all those we have lost due to Covid, we salute you.
Here are pictures I took of my daughter after being in the house for four days since our positive Covid tests last week. This is round two of Covid for us, the first time in December of 2020. I was sitting in the back of our house in the shade with our dog who has recently acquired arthritis and can not move around much. Yes, the whole Peavey house is going through it these days! I was on my laptop listening to the birds, doing research for a shoot, and catching some fresh air when Lucia came out with a whole lot of energy!
I got inspired. I appreciate that no matter how crappy she feels, she still showers and puts on a cute outfit. I asked her to go back into the house and get my camera, the one with the flowery strap I said. I have one particular lens and camera I like to use for my double exposures. It is my Nikon d 850 with the 24-70mm 2.8 lens. That lens stays on that body almost always. Lucia isn't often a fan of having her picture taken, so I got a little bossy. Hey, she says it is my job to cook for her when I am around her because I am her mom, in return, I say I can be bossy. We have a great relationship!
One of the things we both like about our house is the backyard. It is awesome to have a space outside where no one can see you. We do have a new development behind us now, which encroaches on the privacy idea a little bit, especially in the winter months. Nonetheless, it is still our special place.
