October Wedding: Erin & Nick

Erin & Nick were married at one of my FAVORITE Maine venues, the Newagen Seaside Inn in Newagen Maine, which is located on Southport Island just off of Boothbay Harbor. It is about one hour north of Portland. The venue is one of my favorites because not only does it have stunning coastal Maine views from many sides, the property is kept up well and the staff all are friendly and efficient. When the staff is happy, you know the place is a well-run business. Enough about the Newagen, let's talk about Erin and Nick.

Erin the mini skirt wearing, moped crashing awesome individual who decided to pair up with a longtime friend/acquaintance Nick LaRue. Nick is awesome. How would I  describe awesome? He owns a Rottweiler is and is a longtime die-hard Bills Fan, that takes love and dedication with no expectation of outcome, and Nick emailed me the revised list of family portraits to take during for the wedding! GO NICK! Go Nick and ERIN! When Erin first called me to talk about wedding photography we chatted and she seemed semi-interested, asked questions ok ok and then I didn't hear from her for a few months. When she was ready to hire their photographer she emailed and asked are you still available? I said yes. We met a few months after that. I noticed on her instagram feed that she and Nick have an adorable baby boy named Jaxon (who happens to be a Rottie). I decided I really wanted to get my dog Pepper, a rescue Rottweiler from Coastal Humane in Brunswick together with Jaxon. Being the same type of doggie parent as me, they decided that was a great idea. The dogs had a blast. In May en route to a site visit to the Newagen, they with met me in Freeport at the rec. field near my house off the highway. The dogs acted like they met a soul mate and played and played. It was awesome to watch. While the dogs bonded it allowed Nick, Erin and I to get to know each other. Nick and Erin really wanted to meet all of their vendors in person before the wedding, and I agree. It makes such a difference.

Before I share wedding pictures I am going to share photos of our meeting in May. As I write this blog I hear my Pepper drinking her entire water bowl in the kitchen, completely bored because it is raining outside.

Aren't the dogs adorable? There is something about dogs. They know when another dog drives by in another car, and when they find their own breed they particularly get excited. I used to have a pug, Charlie, and I would bring her to pug night on the hill at Eastern Prom in Portland. Her heart soared with excitement. What I like about Erin and Nick is that not only do they have a love for each other but they have a bigger relationship with their dog. It is love all around.

Ok back to the wedding. It was the Saturday of Columbus Day weekend. The girls were getting ready at the cottage at the Newagen and the guys were off doing guy stuff which you know, has nothing to do with 5 hours of hair and makeup.  Erin and I built a schedule allowing for time in case things went over, which they did, so we ended up still having time. Time to have a first look with her Dad, pictures of her, with her girls in their bridesmaid's shirts and dressed up,  and getting images of Nick and the guys before the ceremony. Erin's cousin did her makeup, she looked like she belonged in a magazine. (Makeup credits are down below if you need a makeup person.) In Maine like most days, you have to wonder if it is going to rain, get cold or both! The weather held out but did get chilly after the ceremony. Hence why you see Erin in her leather jacket. Makes sense, she is a rock star from her mini skirt and moped days. (loved the bridesmaid's speech!) The ceremony was unstaged and authentic. Erin and Nick made their feelings vocal in a candidly speaking throughout the ceremony and it made it very fun. Some of my favorite photos are the shots of Erin and Nick before they went in for cocktail hour. The clouds rolled in, the wind picked up along the water and they make for such moody beautiful black and whites. Reminds me of one of my favorite U2 Album covers, (even though most of U2 covers were in color). Here are a few images from the day. If you have time and can hear music where you are, (at work?) then go ahead and watch the highlights slideshow I made for them.

Cheers to Erin & Nick!
