The weekend of Adam and Meredith's wedding at Newagen Inn offered a full range of Maine summer weather on the coast--sunshine, sea mist, and showers. And still, all of the smiles and songs made everyone forget the rain. Everyone, bride and groom, wedding party, guests, and Newagen staff were so easygoing and laid back. But what really impressed me were the steps taken to really make the kids feel welcome and a part of the celebration!
Friday night's rehearsal dinner featured a the Newagen's own lobster bake looking out over the harbor in Southport and was capped by blueberry cake and good old-fashioned smores.
Saturday morning, Meredith had the fireplace going in the bridal cottage--which everyone appreciated after trekking out onto the rocky shore barefoot with their gigantic pink balloons. Abigail, the vivacious flower girl, had some pretty strong opinions about which poses and which angles she liked for Meredith, so I gave her some time in front of the camera to practice while Mere donned her gown.
The rain started to fall just as we walked to the dock for First Look, and we used my reflector as a makeshift umbrella to keep the couple dry while also keeping the dock balanced.
It began to rain in earnest just as folks gathered for family photos, so we assembled underneath the porte-cochère. When the rain didn't look as though it would stop, the porte-cochère was quickly arrayed with ribbons and the trellis for the ceremony. There, literally surrounded by family and friends, Adam and Meredith exchanged their vows.
The festivities really picked up when the band, Hot Mess, voted "Best of Boston 2018", took the stage for hours of dancing!
