Maine Wedding Photography at the Spruce Point Inn

The Spruce Point Inn is a coastal Maine wedding venue that has been providing a scenic location for couples for years. It is a wedding venue that I am very familiar with.This fall I photographed Kelly and Conor’s wedding at the Spruce Point Inn. Kelly and her bridesmaids got ready on site, which made it easy for me to photograph them and the details of the reception coming together. Kelly shared with me her wedding Pinterest board. I saw many images of couples in the woods and for the first look I chose a pretty wooded path for her and Conor to first see each other. Often people want portraits on the dock or with Maine’s beautiful ocean behind them. I knew we would have time for those images later in the day with family pictures and at sunset. The woods provided the images that Kelly wanted combined with a private area that was free of the ocean wind that could potentially mess with her fresh idea. 

This brings me to an important aspect of the pre-wedding day conversations. I appreciate seeing Pinterest boards brides have. I like to see what ideas of images they are drawn to be it images in my portfolio or any source. Seeing specific images that they want to recreate and have for themselves helps me deliver images and experiences that they already know they want for themselves. I don't promise to recreate images identical, but to create an image with the same feeling and concept in mind which we have made our own.

This wedding reception was one of those that we stayed through to the very end. I was told by the DJ and the Spruce Point staff that they had never seen a photographer stay on the dance floor so long and so much. Maybe so, and perhaps that isn't important to other couples and other photographers.  I enjoy photographing people who are having a genuinely really good time. At Kelly and Conor’s wedding, this was what their reception was all about. Also it allows us to play around with lighting and getting fun and different shots, which keeps me I also enjoy!
