Livy and Nick's Backyard Garden Wedding

I am a little behind in Blogging weddings this summer. Yes, I am photographing weddings! Just like I did last year and twenty-plus years before that! Liv and Nick's wedding was a small one, held in their backyard up behind their garden in Vermont. Vermont is special to me because that is where I was born and would go for a week every summer to visit with cousins and family. What also made this wedding special is all the picked and homegrown food. I love that stuff! I have a little garden myself and have so much appreciation for others who do as well. Not to mention I appreciate their love story, their vows, family, friends, and authenticity. So here is a quick sneak peek of Liv and Nick's small Vermont wedding on a hot, no breeze, summer day!

It got so hot Nick had sweated straight through his dress shirt. So we had to change out post-ceremony before the family photos. Livy was impressed with his new suit and in their first look, she waited and he came to her because gender norms need to be flipped sometimes. So, they both surprised each other and they were both very happy with what they saw!

I liked Nick's grandmother a lot. She might have been starting some dementia, or it was just hot and she forgot things. I remember how my Dad felt being around a lot of people in those last years with his Lewy Body. It could be a bit much. It makes one feel vulnerable when they don't always know everyone around them and the context of what is going on. She is from Northern Maine, like Nick. She is French Canadian like my grammy was and sewed and had lots of siblings, also like my Grammy LeBlanc. I liked her brown eyes and soft hands and we talked about the yummy pies and she told me about the days with her husband.

I like to end with a shot of my couple with the party in the background. I also liked the pond. Nick created the pond himself and it was lovely. There will be a slideshow and a full gallery for Nick, Liv, and family in a few weeks!
